Our story

Established 1971. Still doing the work.

WLC Group was founded in 1971 to do one thing properly: clean other people’s buildings to a standard the owners would be happy to put their name to. Five decades on, that’s still the brief, just across more buildings, more services and more sectors than the founders could have imagined.

From a single contract in West Sussex, we’ve grown into a self-delivering cleaning and facilities business serving offices, schools, public sector estates, industrial sites, vehicle showrooms, residential blocks and multi-site portfolios across the South of England. Through every era of office work, every shift in compliance, every change in client expectation, we’ve kept the same operating principles: do the work properly, employ the people directly, write down the standard, and turn up tomorrow.

Today we’re ISO 9001:2015 accredited, headquartered in Crawley, and still privately run with the same long-term mindset our founders started with.

By the numbers

Five decades, measured

A long-running cleaning business shows up in the numbers, the same way a good building shows up in its condition. Here’s where ours stand.

The WLC way

Self-delivered. Directly employed. Accountable.

Most of the things that go wrong with a cleaning contract come down to who’s actually on site. WLC doesn’t use agency staff or sub-contractors. Every operative on a WLC contract is recruited, vetted, inducted and trained in-house, and managed by a regional supervisor and a single named account manager who picks up the phone when it rings.

We self-deliver across every service line, from daily commercial cleaning through to washroom hygiene, floor care, window cleaning, decorating and facilities management. That means one contract, one SLA, one consolidated invoice and one accountable team across your whole portfolio.

It’s the model we’ve always run, because it’s the only one that holds up when something goes wrong at half-six on a Monday morning.

What we do

Over the years our service menu has expanded to cover almost everything a building needs to look and feel right. We self-deliver across every line on the list, under one contract and one named account manager.

What guides us

The principles we’ve traded under since 1971

Five decades is long enough to develop a few non-negotiables. Ours are simple, and they show up in every contract we mobilise.

Do the work properly. Documented specifications, supervisor walks, monthly KPI reports. No corners cut on the boring parts.
Employ the people directly. No agency staff. No sub-contractors. Operatives are recruited, vetted and trained in-house, and they stay.
Stay accountable. One named account manager per contract, one number to call, one consolidated invoice. No call centre.
Document the standard. ISO 9001:2015 quality management system, externally audited every year. Lapses get fixed, not hidden.
Think long term. Most of our clients have been with us for years. The point isn’t to win a contract, it’s to keep it without effort.
Credentials

Documented, audited, accountable

The boring paperwork matters. Procurement teams, managing agents, framework managers and brand auditors all want to see it before they sign. Ours is ready, every time.
